but the offers and the sincerity of the others making the offers helps put ease some of zita's worries. not all of them, but enough that she thinks that this could work after all.

I use tarot reading the most when I do divination. Tarot reading is when I used a specific deck of cards to read the past, present, and future of someone's situation. The cards pick up the energies of the person who is asking for their fortune, influence what cards I draw from the deck and lie out.

You don't have to thank me for it. [ the proper response would be you're welcome in exchange for gratitude, but rey lacks the proper social acumen to accept it gracefully — or, more the point, traditionally. still, something sits odd with her in being thanked for innocuous compassion. ] We're meant to be working together.

[ that's the crux of it, at any rate, courtesy of the queen's intentions. working together is not so foreign for rey, though the idea has required some adjusting, struggling against the drive to remain self-erliant and isolate.d that won't help her, here, until she knows the lay of the land. ]

It's that simple? [ truly, she doesn't know what she had been expecting in terms of complexity. visions, perhaps, to match her own. whispers at the back of her head. it nearly sounds too good to be true, but — ] Is it always accurate?

[ something about the reply is refreshing to zita. someone else knowing that they need to work together plus the bluntness is- nice. makes her think of some friends back in the carnival and she's left hoping they're okay, while reminding her why she's here.

perhaps that's why she gives her answer some thought, waiting to be accurate as possible while making sure she was understood. she needs to constantly remind herself that she's no longer in her world, meaning some terms and descriptions might not be understood right away. ]

If one is an expert in the field of divination than yes. It's a powerful tool that can be used to peer through the veils. To truly see what is ahead of one's self and be given a chance to change their fates whether it's set in stone or still up in the air.

Unfortunately- I must let you know that I'm not an expert in it. I've studied it, yes but I specialise more in healing and warding. [ she quickly adds, ] I like to believe my readings are accurate enough.

[ sometimes, a part of her adds and she can't help but think back to her reading with haein. she winces at the reminder and she's glad they're using audio at the moment. ]

[ it isn't a note of disappointment, exactly, but one of shifted expectations. accurate enough is cause to wonder if it's worth the gamble, the effort, to place her faith in a set of cards to strengthen what she's already seen of the future — in her fear of riding on false hope.

It's something you can learn, then? [ not necessarily an ability, or even a calling like the force, maybe. ] Instead of being born with the ability.

zita falls quiet, trying to find a satisfying answer because, in theory, there are two responses to this sort of question. both of them are accurate too. ]

In theory- Yes, one can. Someone can learn the symbolism and the history tied to the cards, use that to weave a plausible thread one can follow in their attempt to find a line for whatever ails them. I've seen those who did not have magic try their hand at fortune telling and give accurate enough results.

[ now she does her best to sound gentle at this: ] But being able to peer through the veils is a different matter. Where I'm from, one needs to not only have a connection with Raw Magic but have studied the field of divination to see the strongest, most plausible path a person can take in the midst of all the choices and possibilities that one could take.

Does that make sense?

Yes.

[ or, well, it makes enough sense to an amateur that rey doesn't have to seek out immediate clarification. ]

What do you mean when you say 'through the veils?' [ in some ways, it sounds eerily similar to the force, the belief of being used as its tool. perhaps that's simply rey's attempts to find common ground, projecting, to find others similar to her. ] I think we might have something like it in my galaxy.

far from it- she seems quite pleased, happy to dispense some of her hard-earned knowledge with others. especially a concept like the veils because it's a fascinating thing to zita. ] Where I'm from - The veils are the magical barriers that stand between the lands of actuality and the ever changing landscape of actuality.

It's what allows our world to stay consistent and constant but it also forces us to only see one 'path' - our supposed 'reality - in order to do this.

Seeing through the veils means one can see all the paths one or all could take, and those paths' paths and those paths' paths- [ alright one gets the idea where she's going with this. ] It takes great skill to not only see through the veils but to see the strongest path one could take and not lose one's mind.
