[ There's some consideration on Haein's end before he responds to the video, and he does so with only his voice.

He's spent some time with Zita after their first day run-in and then later their work on the roof together, and she hasn't done anything to offend or anger him like people usually do, so why not let his curiosity get the best of him? ]

And yes! I do. It was part of my job when I was manning my both back at the Midnight Carnival. I specialised in selling potions and charms, with a side of fortune reading for those curious enough.

[ One of the very unfortunate things about Haein is his complete lack of creativity, so he wouldn't be able to make up a story on the spot at all. He's also ridiculously private about his life so that's also a no. Even if he were to fictionalize parts of it, there would still be that concern that some of it could be traced back to him.

This really shouldn't be that difficult. ]

zita will take what she can get. after running her booth back at the carnival for years, she's learned the fine art of bargaining and evaluating trades. she can tell this is as good as a deal this proposal will get. ]

[ This is sort of a win-win situation for him, not that he'd say. Escorting Zita is a convenient excuse to get familiar with the Queen's Residence and the city, and also possibly learn a thing or two about healing since his is still so... untrained. ]

[ zita certainly agrees with the sentiment but she also tries her best to be cautiously optimistic of the situation. she knows she has a bad habit of stewing on bad things if she allows herself to do so, and that wouldn't be a good impression on new folks so-

she focuses on the question instead, her answer for the young man at the ready- ] Any story will do.

Real or fictional. From one's world or made up on the spot. I would love to hear anything at the moment, since I would love to better acquaint myself with everyone else new here. We're all in this together, after all.

the assurance was- necessary, actually. she thinks about it and she admits that while she wouldn't have questioned it now, some part of her would wonder when they met. she's grateful that he got that out of the way and the gratefulness can be heard in her voice. ]

I don't have any worries of that now. I know you'll keep your word.

[ and since it's only fair- ] If you want, the fortune reading can begin now. I can describe the cards to you while I lay them out on a five card spread, or we can meet somewhere to do it in person before we begin the round.

What do you mean by fortune telling though?

[ zita can be seen physically perking up at the offer of someone else to help others in need. ]

You would be willing? I would hate to make you feel obligated, but it would be nice to have company who could also help. Many people are in need of aid in wake of the fire. [ she tries to not blanche at the memory of the fire and the fights. getting literally stabbed in the back is not how she would have liked to spend her first night in this new world.

but she tries to focus on the conversation at hand now, reminding herself to answer the question that had just been asked— ] I happen to have my tarot cards. They're what I use to read others' fortunes, since I also offer these services back at my booth in the Midnight Carnival.

A good way to learn something of the people brought here as well, I'd think. Of their worlds and ways.

[ Sen is... not quite all cheer, no. She's dusted with soot and her hair bunned up in preparation for hard work, but!! Her enthusiasm is very much present. ]

Yes! I use tarot cards to read others' fortunes. I was fortunate enough to still have had my pack with me when I was brought here.

zita perks up upon seeing her, her smile becoming less shy and more open. she actually stops packing as a sign of respect, now giving sen her full attention during their chat. ]

It gives me such great peace of mind to know that you'll be willing to help. [ it really does. given what they've been through so far, zita has come to see sen as someone reliable. ]

Are you alright? It looks like you've already been through the, ah, wringer or two.

[ In absence of something concrete, Sen prides herself most on her reliability. Once a demon gives their word, they stand by it.

... well, most of them. Demons are bound to obey Gaia as an absolute, but not anyone else. ]

Oh, I'm okay. I helped with some moving stuff earlier, I'll get a bath after I'm done.

[ Her smile is genuine, though a little embarrassed. ]

That's so kind of you to do. It looks like you're also settling into the Queen's Residence and I'm glad for that.

[ after what they've all been through on the first night of their time here, the chance to settle down and gather their bearings is a blessing for zita.

they haven't been here for long, but she already misses the circus and her familiarity with it after spending so much time there. she's admittedly homesick, but the arrangements have helped ease her into this more and meeting individuals like sen help for sure. ]

I don't know how to pay you or others back in return for your companionship, but I promise to think of something suitable. It's the least I can do.

[ People don't feel gratitude toward Haein ever, so hearing it in her voice is odd. He'll just pretend not to notice, because that's what normal, well-adjusted people do.

But when met with the choice to either have face to face interactions or not, Haein will always go for the latter. He just tends to feel more comfortable hiding away. ]

We have a similar practice, where I'm from, though I think the deck must differ somewhat.

How did you come by such a skill? I assume you must have been taught.

[She sounds a little skeptical there, or at least it sounds skeptical. People who can divine the future are either running a con or even sketchier than a conman in her opinion, so she's not really sure what to make of that.]

[She's at least making an attempt to try out what that Ben guy was talking about, even if she has some issues with stuff. Stuff not just being fortune telling, but also the concept of her watching other people's back and helping out. It's not something she has much too experience with.]

[ zita can be heard taking something out from her bag and some rustling as she prepares a nearby table with a cloth and a lit candle.

than the sound of something being shuffled fills her end of the line. the cards, presumably. she then resumes speaking to haein while she cuts and mixes them up. ]

You must first think of a problem or a question you have at the moment. You don't need to tell me it. Just the energies the issue evokes from you will be enough for the cards to pick up on.

[ A problem or question... He has too many of those. Settling on one is hard, but he ultimately decides to go with the burning concern of if it was the right decision to come to this place or not.

It's been an... eventful and exhausting couple of weeks, and he's still have some difficulties adjusting to the city. Sure, he's usually adaptable when it comes to new environments, but this was just completely different than what he was used to.

So yes, even though he knows that the end result will be worth it, it has to be, he still wants some kind of reassurance. ]

I was. A fellow practitioner taught me the basics of divination when I was travelling through Europe.

[ she sounds faintly wistful as she speaks about this witch. it has been over thirty years since their first and last encounter. she wonders if they're still alive at this point, if they hadn't gone through their attempts to achieve immortality. ]

It was their chosen field and they were happy to share their knowledge. After that, I slowly learned it by myself; I like to think I'm sufficient enough these days to give an accurate reading.
