Hello, everyone. I’m Zita.

[ the woman on the screen smiles at the direction of the far caster, giving a polite wave before she returns to the task of packing up some things for the day.

judging by her surroundings as packs her things while she speaks towards the far caster, it seems that she’s taken residence in, well, the queen’s residence. ]

I hope this isn’t presumptuous of me to ask on this but— I’m hoping to offer my healing services to those here in the Queen's Residence or around the city for free.

However I’ve been informed that it’ll be in my best interest if I had an escort with me when I do this. If anyone is willing to keep me company, I would be grateful for it and be willing to pay you back somehow. You're all welcome to seek me for healing too, of course.

[ she pauses. as if considering something.

usually, she would end her message here and refocus her attention on the next task at hand - in this case, her packing for her when she heads out - but... ]

If you’re not interested in that, you’re welcome to also make use of my fortune telling services instead. Payment for this will be required but I promise the price for it is reasonable enough. I only ask for a story.

[That probably doesn't add as much as it might with others. Mordred isn't aware of too much there, not having really any experience with carnivals, other than knowing what they are. Kind of a problem with not socializing much when she was alive and not having too much downtime after being summoned back home.]

Probably for the best, if you need a bodyguard, you probably shouldn't be heading out alone. Seems like a good way to have something bad happen.

[She's not particularly mean spirited about it. It's more of an it is what it is type of thing. Not everybody's suited for making sure someone who starts trouble can't finish it. Or being the person who starts trouble in the first place.]

That's similar to what Prince Soren told me when I approached him about the etiquette of their healers here. How it's best to have someone with me.

[ just in case some trouble occurs when she attempt to interact with others. and the words of caution are ones that she'll take to heart. her back doesn't twinge as much when she thinks of how she got stabbed, but it still does.

honestly- it's why she feels a lot of gratitude to those who are willing to keep her company when she does this. she hopes her voice makes her thankfulness and sincerity known. ]

I promise- I'll also heal you and anyone else for free, should something arise! [ and, already, she's wincing at that poor attempt of a joke. too familiar? ]

Trust me, if something happens, I'm not going to be the one needing healing.

[She got her share of scrapes and various injuries from the fire debacle, but she's not going to act like she did. She's too cool for stuff like that. Or at least she acts like it.]

But yeah, that's a good idea, don't charge the people watching your back.

[She snorts a little at that, kind of an undignified noise, but she thinks the number of people willing to provide backup would start dwindling if she did that.]

[ well- she's happy that there's such confidence in case conflict did rear its ugly head. that's comforting in a way.

and zita crosses over her heart and her mouth when she assures that she won't be charging her healing to the others. an old gesture amongst witches to show they were being serious about something they were going to say, especially in regards to a promise or assurance towards someone new.

it even comes with its own little saying: ] Cross my heart, hope to die, and burn on the stake like the witch am I.

[ it's said with a certain level of gravitas, to show she's serious. ]

I'll never do that to you or the others. I am grateful that you and the others are willing to help me in this. I truly am. If anything, I think I should be paying you in return for this.

[There's kind of an uncertain grumble from Mordred because she's really not sure how to take the witch thing. She doesn't have the best experience with those. And sure, she hangs around a necromancer back home, but that's different. Probably.

If it's not, she's not thinking about it.]

Nah, don't worry about that. I'd feel weird taking payment for it.

[Goes against being a knight, she guesses. Even though she's pretty sure rebelling against the king went against that too, it's still weird to think about being paid for something like that.]

[ she wants to ask, 'are you sure?' but she decides against it.

the decision was made and zita is going to respect that. still... there's a desire to give some payment of some, if not in kind.

she tries to think of something and quickly reaches an answer, recalling how penelope used to pay back nikolai for help whenever he gave her a hand in moving her instruments and tools around the tents. ]

Can I at least treat you to lunch? It's the least I can do if you'll be with me the entire day, as I'll be doing the rounds from late morning to late afternoon. There'll be a planned break for rest and a break for lunch in-between so I can prepare something for the both of us.

[She can definitely accept someone treating her to lunch. But that might be a problem since like her father, Mordred can be a bit of a glutton. She's had at least one waiter take the menu away to keep her from ordering more.]

Yeah, that sounds great!

[She's pretty enthusiastic about that one.]

It's not like it's actually charging you for anything, and it's not like a guard can do a good job on an empty stomach.

[This idea's definitely sounding better and better to her the more she thinks about it!]

[ if only zita knew what she was getting herself into with this arrangement. well- this is an issue that future zita will deal with. for now? present zita is pleased that it's been accepted and it could be told with how her voice has perked up for this conversation.

(given this is is zita, 'perked up' merely means 'she sounds like she's awake and aware of her surroundings now, given how soft she speaks.' it's an improvement.) ]

Excellent. I'm glad you're okay with this. [ she was starting to run out of ideas of what she could offer as thanks. ] Is there anything in particular you'd like?

I'm planning to run some errands after I've spoken to everyone and it seems best to hit two birds with one stone now.

[She's not the greatest at keeping track of things, but names are a big thing with Servants, so she pays attention to that one.]

names are important where zita is from as well so she pays attention to it herself. thought, for now, she makes no comment on it for the time being. it could be a nickname for all zita knows and, really, she has no place to judge names given who she's friends with and what she calls herself. ]

[Her first thought is to say no, and she almost does as much. But she manages to not do that, and instead ask a little more.]

Yeah, actually. Can you do other things besides heal and tell fortunes? Obviously, you need help if you're looking for a guard, and I don't mind, but can you do anything if there's trouble or are you completely relying on anyone else for help?

if mordred needed help if something happened that required backup - a figurative knock of the wood is now being inserted here - would zita be able to help her...? ]

I'm adept in the field of warding. [ hm. that requires an explanation: ] I can create shields and barriers that can deflect different types of damage. They take time to create, however, and I need materials and energy to prepare these in advance.

[ so note to self: prepare something that can be used to quickly throw up a shield when she does her rounds. just in case. ]

And I, in theory, could use a more combative type of magic if needed but... I'm not what you could call an expert on those fields.

That's fine, leave the combat to me.

I can definitely by time for you to set up a shield, but it probably won't be needed.

Are you sure? At the very least, I can bring the items and have them at the ready in case it happens. [ one could almost hear zita physically fret on her end of the audio. ] It-It doesn't seem right to just leave you by yourself. What if there's more than one person trying to harass you?

her anxiety over others getting hurt and knowing it's her fault, in any way, is very much showing in this moment. ]

All right, all right, if it makes you feel better. I'm just saying you're probably not going to need them, it'll take more than a group of people to throw me off.

[Bold words considering the next event. But they serve the purpose of letting Zita bring along the supplies just in case without Mordred having to admit she's not as awesome as she claims. She can be pretty awesome, but she's definitely not untouchable or anything like that.]
