What do we know 'bout the Black Widows? In general-- not the individuals specifically.
There were some in the wilds, an' from my experience an' what we seen aren't uncommon for them. They don' control but gently persuade while you're makin' bad decisions. But if you've a suspect in mind, don't touch them barehanded. They've a fang underneath the ring finger of their right hands. In fact, don't even go near their right hands if you can help it.
If you know more'n that, especially what they can do, share it. 'S somethin' we need to know.
[THIS IS AN IC INFO-SHARING POST. Feel free to hijack threads! Rhus has opened this up for everyone, so it's pretty much like a big forum, or like the psychic post Fayura made a while back.]

when rhus prompts the sharing of information, daylight doesn't hesitate to offer up what he knows so far: ]
I, um, know that you can make antivenin for the poison they use. It needs to be customised and stuff though, since Black Widows' poison is unique to each of them. Something we should keep in mind in case, um, stuff happens.

Comes back in over the connection... kinda tartly melodious...?
Like he's swallowin' chuckles.]
So, what -- we gotta take a cage a' bunnies and a little lab with us if we're gonna go HUNTIN -- ...?!
[On his end of the connection, his head tips hard. And... unseen, but whatever.
Voice takin' on... more of an acrid sizzle.]
-- ...What kiiiiind of venom're we talkin' about, anyway... -- ?
no subject
but a question was asked and it's a question he can answer. kind of. maybe. he's going to make an effort to try since they're all in this together. ]
This is a stab in the dark but I think the poison the Black Widows use is either necrotoxins or neurotoxins. [ probably a mixture of both if they're real unlucky. ]
Necrotoxins can cause the pain a person feels that- [ what's the right address to use again?? ] -Lady Fayura described to me when giving me the basics of Black Widows. Actual black widow spiders produce neurotoxins though so... Yeah. Something to keep in mind.
But we definitely need to stick together when speaking with them. A lot of them aren't happy and are making it known.

And chances are, that's... gonna be felt right back. That little low, chemical bubbling. Daylight may not be one to hide his feelings, and, well... Lucas isn't really one to hide his laughter.
That said, though, it kinda carries into the creakin'-over-top swell on this next part...!]
Whaohww, I KNOW what necrotoxins and neurotoxins are, maaan! I'm a scientist!
[Becaaaauuuuse all scientists... work with toxins...?
Keenin' further nasalized.]
That's why I was askin' -- ! [A... little dusty high-knocking chuckle...! On his end, he plays with one of the strings on his hoodie, as his voice thickens up, a bit...!] ...May-be this is where I could come in -- ...!
[Gemme in on that poison-handling, gemme in on that intel...!
It's... also not that he's ignoring the "stick together" part, because... that's hard to do when it's gone in one ear and basically out the other because you're frickin' invincible.
Or, you know. So he'd like to think, anyway.]
no subject
he doesn't want to be rude but that's heck a plot twist he wasn't expecting when he began speaking with the guy.
huh. don't judge by a book by its cover and everything, as auntie laura would say. even if daylight is (finally) starting to get a faint alarm of 'stranger danger' coming in. rather delayed, all things considered, but it's there and it helps temper his emotions to something more manageable. ]
Does this mean you're a- [ he struggled to remember the proper term for a poison scientist... person. ] -a toxicologist, then? That's pretty good to hear.
[ right-! ] I, um, was thinking of asking the Head Healer Lady for help. In getting the antivenin made from the venom of some Black Widows we have in custody. Maybe you and Rhus will have better luck with it, since you guys seem to have a better idea of how to do this sort of stuff.
[ alas, medicine isn't day's speciality. that would be his meddroid, meddy, but they're not with him right now. ]
no subject
... Can you teach me to do the same?
no subject
[ daylight is surprised by the request but clearly happy with his next response: ] Yeah! Sure! I was planning to ask the Head Healer lady if she could help out with this but um it would useful if a lot of us knew how to make it.
[ as in all of them. because a lot of the suspects are clearly not pleased to be held up and daylight is worried something is going to go down if they're not careful. ]
no subject
An'... It'd be an advantage if the Black Widows took in blood from the victims durin' the bite too-- if the victim carried somethin' dangerous in their blood, that would hurt the Black Widow.
no subject
stop thinking!! keep the conversation going, day! ] -She's interesting. Maybe she can help us out with making the antivenin in case something happens. I think it's important to focus on getting the antivenin from the more, er, scarier ladies we have in custody. In case a scuffle might happen.
[ ... and though daylight can't be seen since this is a physic link and day is in the warehouse he's using to run his experiments, he sure is squinting at the last words of rhus.
and what he may be suggesting with that line of thinking. ] Like- Like the person who gets bitten by the Black Widow just happens to have some form of paralytic in their blood or something?
no subject
no subject
Aaaaaand it sounds like you have someone in mind for this angle and everything.
[ please huff and say he's jumping into conclusions. please. ]
no subject
no subject
I mean...
[ he's got a point. ] You've got a point.
[ but- ]
Is it safe for you to do that? [ he isn't sure why. he's so hesitant with agreeing to do this. it's, perhaps, from the way meddy has rubbed off of him over the decades. or maybe how emer and dialup always cautioned him and he's following their lead. ] The poison is really bad, from what I was told by the Queen. Like- Super bad.
[ which is a super yikes for him. ]
no subject
no subject
he tries to think of an emer question to ask. or a dialup question. heck, he'll settle for nightbreak's bluntness and oh hey no he has an idea now. thanks, nightbreak's bluntness. ]
How do you go about that, anyways?
no subject
no subject
[ there's a certain 'duh!' in daylight's thoughts to a rhus. a friendly sort of 'duh', however. ] Plus- I don't want you to get yelled at by, like, fifty million people if you get poisoned real bad during this thing. That won't be a fun thing to happen in this investigation.
[ not a lot of things about this investigation isn't fun but let's try to not add to that. ]
no subject
He doesn't have friends here, he doesn't think, and never breathed any similar word to Daylight so... well, it's an unexpected comment, to say the least.]
Well, best I don' tell you the rest of my plannin', aye?
no subject
[ just- dude. that's basically daylight's feelings being sent through their connection. ] That isn't a safe thing to do.
[ oh man. he's definitely channeling emergency aid in this moment. he wonders if this is how he feels whenever day and the others do things like this.
poor guy. ]
We're doing this together. To help the girl and the others here in the city. We've got to help each other out and not hiding stuff from each other is part of that.
no subject
How else would we get results if someone doesn't take a risk?
no subject
[ after that answer, daylight realises this is a thing he's going to dissuade from and, so, leave it be. ] Good luck, Rhus. Let me know if you need anything. I'm going to look into some leads some folks brought up to me a while back.
no subject
And a slow, congested:]
... -- Hhhooohhh, that's an awful weird place for a fang, huhhhh...?
[...Honestly, he wouldn't be shocked to see... anyone just have... a literal fang stickin' out of their hand like a twin buddy for their finger.
This is just... generally fishing for more intel.]
no subject
Don' ask me. Ask them if you have a chance.
no subject
Hnnnnnnh, why would I do that, when it don't sound like they're friendly... -- ?!
[And... spikin' to hop over stones, as it were...!]
-- Ya can't even tell me if we're talkin' 'bout a RING?! Somethin' like that -- ?!
no subject
[The most unamused face cant be seen.]
no subject
[A noise between a "hnnnngh" and a "heh".]
-- One thing's a little easier to deal with than the other, is all -- ! [A rough... half-peak on that last sound.] -- And ain't that what we're doin'?! Workin' out how to deal with it, here...?
[It's only half-inflected like a question.
And by "it" he means, you know. The whole Black Widow situation.]
bc writing in the middle of a dungeon is a dumb idea and keeps me from writing properly
An' how you suppose we do somethin' about them without knowledge? O' what they are, what they can do? The why weren't important, not now. Jus' the what.
That's the whole point o' this.
PFF, ALAS, ONE IS ALWAYS TEMPTED TO TEST THEIR LIMITS
This is basically in the spirit of cat runnin' in circles and air-swiping around... like, an unamused turtle, probably. If you yourself ain't having fun with the simple act of communication, well... step it up.
Quick 'n airy:]
Yeah -- ! [Nods hard on his end.] Yeah -- ...and thaaaat's what I'm here for, ain't it -- ?!
[With juuuust a faintly-screechy edge 'round a burble...!]
KNOWLEDGE!
... -- So what was that abouuut goin' to them for it and not here -- ...? [There's a... there's a play-? Growl injected into that...?] ...Huhhh, you ain't tellin' anybody ELSE that -- !
[Aaas his inflection flows 'n waves.]
rhus is too smart/suspicious to buy into what he's trying to sell
Mayhap because I already gave my reasonin'.
at a later date, when daylight is contacting other investigators.
Anyways... It's one of the scarier ones. With lots of rings on her hands.
It's been confirmed that she's pregnant. She's, um, six months in. [ he's unsure of what to say now, the discomfort and the uncertainty radiating from his end of the link he's sending out to others. ]
I guess this means we're certain she's part of the trio, right? Does anyone else have anything else they want to add?
no subject
[If he sounds flippant, it's only because 'these people who can shred a person's mind like cheap parchment also have poison fingers' is a little much.]
no subject
Or grab the wrist, if you must.
no subject
But I doubt this is the only time we'll have to deal with them in less than ideal circumstances. The warning is appreciated.
no subject
no subject
Have you had to contend with their webs before? Or just their fangs?
no subject
no subject
[Because considering everything going on around the city, that might be important to know.]
no subject
Mind you, I were just lucky that time, I think.
no subject
[Not that he'd particularly want to attempt that method anyway - the prospect of madness terrifies him more than mortal peril, and mortal peril is terrifying enough in its own right.
But it sounds like brute force, and below a certain level of strength, brute force just doesn't work, fear or no, willing or no.]
