[It's early evening and the video shows Jonathan's room, the heavy curtains blocking out the waning daylight and the room lit by a single light. He's seated at a desk, papers spread out before him but clearly his attention isn't on them. Jonathan himself looks markedly better since the last time people may have seen him; there's colour in his skin and while he still looks slightly starved, there's nothing of the hungry expression in his eyes.]

The Lady Fayura and her court have been particularly helpful but have also made certain... factors clear to me. So I feel honesty is the best policy here. Rational thought and decision only.

[He settles forward to rest his weight on his elbows, pale blue eyes fixed on the far-caster.]

I am not human. As unbelievable as it may seem, after I returned to London following the war I was attacked, murdered, and reborn as what I am now. A creature of death and blood that must survive on the living.

[He says it so calmly, matter-of-fact in his delivery.]

I try not to feed on humans but it has been made clear to me that this will no longer work, and animals are not enough to survive on. My hunger cannot be so easily ignored here despite my efforts so I am asking a... favour, a show of trust, if any would be willing to make it.

An Ekon, a vampire, a creature of the night that feeds on the living. A monster. All these things and more. That is what I am, what I have become.

[Ekon means nothing to her, but now that that's out of the way...]

So when you feed on people, what are you doing, are you killing them?

[Right to the point because this is the part she actually cares about. She doesn't think he'd announce it to everyone if he was, or ask for a favor, but she doesn't know that.]

[He hesitates here; while he'd anticipated that the question would come sooner or later, it isn't easy to discuss.]

I have only fed on humans three times since I changed. Twice here, and neither died.

But the first time, after I became this creature... I did kill someone.

[That might get points for honesty, but Mordred's not really sure how to take it. He could've just lied and she wouldn't have known, but admitting he's killed somebody, that's bad. But it's only one person, and he hasn't killed the other ones, so...honestly, this is just giving her a headache trying to sort it out.]

I don't like it, but if Fayura and the others know and haven't made a big deal about it, I'm not going to either.

[She shrugs, it leaves a bad taste in her mouth not being more mad about some dude eating people, but if he hasn't killed too many people and the court knows, she can't really make a huge deal out of it either.]

Knowing that I can guess what the favor you're asking is, so don't kill any of them or make it a problem.

[It's not really her place to dictate terms to people, but she felt like she had to say something. And maybe if she knew more, she'd have more questions about that, but she really doesn't know much about vampires. Kind of a blind spot in her knowledge because when is that really going to be needed in modern times (outside of the whole Lancer being Dracula thing, but she didn't fight him and heard about it secondhand, so not her problem).]

I have no intention of killing anyone through feeding. I would prefer not to feed on people at all but that's proven to be unsustainable.

[The mention of Fayura and her court not taking offence earns a faint, wry smile from him.]

I've noticed that there is more acceptance of death and blood here than any other place I've known. I'm not certain that they are the best standard to hold to.

From what I've seen they've got better standards than some of the others.

[She can't argue with that though. This world's so used to death and violence. Even for someone like her, who's done her share of it, it's pretty off putting.]

Since they're not blowing crap up or torching homes.

True enough. And Lady Fayura has been particular helpful in my time of need. I would not betray her trust simply to indulge some hedonistic need.

Yeah well...good.

[She's still got issues with it, but hearing that thing about betraying trust kind of took the wind out of her sails more than not really knowing what to do or it being her place to do anything. She's the Knight of Treachery and known for betraying her King, so being on this side of things isn't something she knows how to handle or really do.]

Be a shame if you did and they had to put you down.

[That was an attempt at finding something to say and...probably not the right one, but she tried. Sort of.]

[Well that seems rather like a threat, but given the circumstances, Jonathan expected as much in response to his disclosure.]

I don't intend for anyone to have to go that far.

[It sure sounded like one, but she actually likes his response to it, smiling. Just a little. Still a serious topic, but she relaxes a little hearing that.]
