Hey guys!

[ a robotic humanoid waves at the far cast when he (mostly) comes into view. he seems to be hiding in an alley of some sorts, crouching against a wall to make sure he can't be seen.

even then he's a tad too big. most of his forehead has been cut off from view, making his expressions seem much more exaggerated all the while. ]

I know it's been a rough for days for us and stuff and I know we're all busy with our own things but, um, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on something? It's super duper important.

[ he rubs the back of his neck, humming to himself to try and collect himself. ] So- I'm thinking of working for the Guilds to earn my keep while I'm here. Gotta help out somehow, you know?

Dropped by their place and... Well... I got a lot of interest. I mean most, if not all of them, want to poke at me and stuff but what else is new on that front when you're only the only mechanoid in a place and-

[ focus, day. ]

Right!! Basically: Four of them want me to join their Guilds and it's kind of hard to choose? They all make good points on how I can help them out and I want to help out. It's just I can tell they want me to only pick one and they're all intense so... Yeah.

Oh! Right! I'm Daylight. Dayligh vis Lornlit. [ the winglets behind his back perk up and flutter, accompanying the cheerful wave he gives. ] I hope we can be buddies! And thanks in advance for any advice!!

Hey Jason! It’s nice to meet you. [ it’s amazing how chipper this guy can sound.

Ummm- I 'm the scout for my fireteam. I basically do exploration and travelling and mapping and stuff for my group when we do missions. It's neat!

Wish I could do that stuff with them but it seems that I’ll mostly going to get poked at with the Guilds when I work with them.

[ he falls a little quiet now. as if unsure of what to say or how to say it. perhaps a mix of the two.

finally, he responds: ] Promise to not laugh at my answer? Like super duper promise to not laugh at all?

[ Earnestly, ]

I swear by the River Styx I won't laugh at all.

[ and of course that’s enough for someone trusting as day. ]

Alright! I’m, um, I’m into singing. [ he can be heard scuffing his pede against the ground, his voice suddenly becoming shy. ] And drawing. Poetry writing as well.

[ Jason's reply is instant, ]

That's really cool! [ He smiles, and doesn't chuckle, remembering his promise not to laugh. ] You could write proclamations for the Queen in limericks.

[ Just a great idea off the top of his head. ]

Or paint portraits — do you paint?

[ daylight laughs at the idea of him scratching over the rhyming scheme of tax returns, his optics bright and twinkling from amusement. ]

Yeah! I can totally do portraits! Er... I'm a bit rusty as it since it's been, like, almost half a century since I've seen humans but I can so do a good one if I had to.

[ he now hums a bit under his breath, thoughtful- and worried. ] You think any of the Guilds will let me do that kind of stuff with them when they're not poking me? A lot of them don't... Hm... I don't wanna sound rude and stuff but, um, a lot of them don't seem to think me as one of them, you know?

[ sentient, basically. ]

[ He doesn't want to draw parallels — going to a Greek camp as a Roman is very different from looking like a machine and clearly having thoughts and feelings. Even Festus — boy, he thinks Leo would be mad about the state of affairs right now. ]

Yeah, why not? Most people just... want you to prove that you're serious about it.

I guess I'm worried. During out chat, a lot of them were treating me more like- [ hrm. how to explain this? ] -like a thing to take apart, not a person they're having a conversation with. It was a little weird. [ an understatement but he sounds uncomfortable at this point, so perhaps that's the most he'll describe it as.

he pauses, trying to find a good side to this since he doesn’t want to come off as complaining about the arrangement. he wants to help! he really does! ] Well— The one leading the, um, Elektrine Guild kind of treated me like a person. They were grumpy with me like how they were grumpy with everyone else during the chat.

[fulminatum]

[ He frowns a little; they think because they're looking at a machine that Daylight is all nuts and bolts and no heart. ]

They'll have to get used to you being around. [ Quiet and firm, because as loosely allied as they are, they were brought here to help, they have to look out for each other. ] Do you think you'd enjoy working for the Elektrine Guild?

[ he smiles at the reassurance, glad that someone can look at him and see a person despite his appearance.

the question has him pausing, scratching the back of his neck as he considers what he'll be doing with the guilds if he took their offer up. ]

... I think so. A lot of the stuff they do is familiar to what some of my friends do, so I can help out if they let him. Master Doriah doesn't seem to like me because I'm a- [ what's the term? ] -a Blood, but she's willing to work with me and treat me like a person. That'll be nice.

I kind of feel bad because it sounds like the Tinkers have lots of important stuff going on but eurgh. I'm kind of afraid of waking up from a nap and finding myself strapped to a table.

[ he looks around. as if to make sure no one is eavesdropping. ] Definitely don't want to be anywhere near the Medico Guild. I mean- I know I can help them and other people if they study my frame but their leader is really creepy.

Do not be in a dark alley alone with him, okay?

[fulminatum]

Yeah, let's not. Stay with where you've got friends.

[ And. Yikes. Demigod blood is important — he doesn't want it falling into the wrong hands either at home or here. Magic is still powerful when it uses blood, wherever it's from. ]

The least I can do for you, Jason! We've gotta stick together!

[ in one piece, preferably. one whole piece that has, not once, been taken apart and put back together and stuff.

(daylight has to be specific. he feels like this is the sort of world where that sort of specificness is pretty much a survival skill.) ]

So- The Elektrine Guild then? That seems to be my best shot in helping out while getting help out in return.

Yeah, it sounds like the best option.

[ Also Daylight you now have a friend with a very pointy sword who is very accomplished at stabbing things with it. Sorry not sorry, we don't make the rules, it's just how Jason is. ]

[ because of course that's the thing daylight focuses on the most. of course he does.

he sounds undeniably... hopeful? yeah- hopeful is the word that should be used here, with how daylight's voice and mood perks up at the word. ]
